Alternative Vote (AV) Defeated
6th May 2011Britain voted by more than two to one against Alternative Vote (AV). 68% of the public voted NO but locally, it was closer to 74%.
For thirteen years, Labour gerrymandered and fiddled, so that they could rule without winning the most votes. At last, the people have spoken, and their message is clear: Dont try to fiddle the voting system.
The Coalition Government has a clear mandate, and a comfortable majority. Now AV is dead the Government can get on with the job of sorting out the terrible mess Labour left.
