Peter Bone Delivers On His EU Pledge

24th October 2011

On 12th April 2010, prior to the General Election, Peter Bone pledged to fight for the people of Wellingborough with a promise of No to the EU (Peter believes that the United Kingdom would be better off out of the European Union).

Today, Peter wound up the Backbench Business Committee debate on a motion relating to the holding of a national referendum on the UK’s membership of the EU following a representation to the committee by Mr David Nuttall MP.

Peter voted in favour of the motion, along with 80 Conservative colleagues, delivering on his pledge made before the General Election.

Adrian Haynes (UKIP) 1 636, 3.2% [+0.9]

Rob Walker (BNP) 1 596, 3.1% [+3.1]

Terry Spencer (English Democrats) 530, 1.0% [+1.0]

Jonathan Hornett (Green) 480, 0.9% [+0.9]

Paul Crofts (Independent Socialist) 249, 0.5% [+0.5]

Turnout was 67.2%, just above the national average.
